**AP 3D Assignments**

Take a moment to view this Presentation in order to gather ideas and motivation for your projects this year:

1st & 2nd Quarter Assignments:

1. Create a blog by following the directions on my post “Creating a Student Blog” and connect it to the classroom blog, then create an online portfolio on Carbonmade.com to showcase your work online. Due Wednesday, August 26.

2. Gather any work you already have so that we can photograph it ASAP and upload it to your Carbonmade portfolio. Here is my Carbonmade Portfolio to use as an example.

3. Begin developing an idea for your concentration. Due towards the end of the first semester, but please start thinking about that NOW. Here is an AP concentration Worksheet on developing your idea. Be looking at successful concentration ideas and past portfolios by using the helpful links above.

4. Create a form utilizing negative space and function. Photograph and add to online portfolio.

5. Create a form that reflects you – a sort of self-portrait, open for interpretation – that can be decorative or utilitarian. Photograph and add to online portfolio.

6. Visit the Elements and Principles of 3D Design document and choose at least one element and one principle (can choose more) then create a clay sculpture/pot using those elements and principles. Photograph and add to online portfolio.

7. Begin creating blog posts every week about an artist from which you can pull information. Read my Artist Highlight Blog Post.

8. Remember to be looking for ideas towards your concentration. This is going to be the student-led portion of your portfolio where you need to show growth and development of an idea. This is where you get to explore and think like an artist.

9. Throw and alter a pot. 5 Great Pottery Throwing Techniques!

10. Use the extruder to create an extruded ceramics piece. Clay Extruder Users Guide.

You will need to complete 3 ceramic artworks and have your concentration idea locked down. I want you to bring in everything you have completed up to now that you would like to include in your portfolio. Please make sure you complete your work and turn it in before the semester is over.
