Andy Warhol Inspired Color Scheme Painting

Objective:

Compose a drawing with a focal point.   Design and paint a pop-art inspired composition utilizing color schemes from class.

Possible Ideas:

  • Pics from books or magazines (personal interests, social/ political/ moral/ cultural issues)
  • Personal pics
  • Pics taken on phone or camera
  • Creative designs (shapes, patterns, non-objective, objective)
  • Still life (plants, hands, personal items)

Requirements:

  • Full page sketch with labeled colors must be completed and check by instructor before painting begins
  • Composition must go off at least three sides of paper
  • Composition must have an emphasis (focal point)
  • Minimum of 4 color schemes must be used
  • Paint only one color scheme per drawing

 Things You Should Always Do:

  • Lightly sketch final draft with pencil
  • Use pure black and white minimally
  • Budget your time wisely
  • Clean your work area and supplies each day
  • Take your time
  • BE CREATIVE

 Things You Should NEVER Do:

  • DO NOT leave yourself little time to paint
  • DO NOT trace objects for your composition
  • DO NOT include names
  • DO NOT plagiarize
  • DO NOT draw cartoons (e.g. Sponge-Bob, Hello Kitty…)
  • DO NOT use electronic devises for non-art/music related content
